Short CV

Carmen Garcia-Mateo received her MSc degree in Electrical Engineering (“Ingeniera de Telecomunicación”) in 1987, and her PhD “cum laude” also in Electrical Engineering (“Doctora Ingeniera de Telecomunicacion”) in 1993, both from the “Universidad Politécnica de Madrid”, Spain. Prof. Garcia-Mateo is director of the Multimedia Technology Group- GTM at the AtlantTIC Research Center. In 1987 she joined the University of Vigo as Assistant Professor. She is currently Full Professor at the “Escuela de Ingeniería de Telecomunicación, Universidade de Vigo”, She is the coordinator of the PhD Programme on “Tecnologías de la Información y Comunicaciones de la Universidad de Vigo”. Her research interests are focused on speech technology: speech and speaker recognition, audio segmentation and multibiometrics. She has published over 100 international contributions, including book chapters, refereed journals and conference papers. She served as Vice-Chancellor for Studies and EHEA Harmonization of the University of Vigo from 2006 to 2010. She was a Visiting Researcher at the University of California- Santa Barbara (1994), Bell Labs (1997 and 1999), Michigan State University (2005) and the University of Canterbury (UK, 2013). She chaired FALA2010: “VI Jornadas en Tecnología del Habla” and II Iberian SLTech Workshop”. She is the recipient of the “2014 Xunta de Galicia- Maria Josefa Wonenburger” Award for her professional career.
